Donald Lynn Byers – Updated

Donald Lynn Byers, age 79 of Cross Roads passed away at his home, on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was born on July 13,1946, in Hope, Arkansas to J. J. and Oma Bowden Byers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister in law Daly and Dorothy Byers, brother Ray Byers, sisters and brothers in law, Jeanette and Gene Allen, Sue and Kenneth Willis, brother Bill Byers, father and mother-in-law, Burl and Adell Briner, sister and brother in law Margaret and Phil Griffis, brother in law Randy Smith, and sisters in law Sue Briner and Alice Rogers.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Byers, of Cross Roads, daughter and husband, Donna and Michael Coleman of Lincoln, Arkansas. Brothers Johnny and wife JoAnn Byers of Midlothian, Jack and wife Mary Byers of Irving, Texas, sister Carolyn Braswell of Garland Texas, sisters in law Mary Byers of Ovilla, Texas, Diane Smith of Camden, Arkansas, brother-in-law Donlad Briner of Camden, Arkansas, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Don was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church. He graduated from Guernsey High School Class of 1965. After graduation he spent seven years in Army Reserves. Don enjoyed the outdoors. He worked for International Paper for twelve and a-half years. He was a founding member of Cross Roads Volunteer Fire Department and later trained and served the Cross Roads community as a first responder. He worked with his brother, Bill on Bill’s Poultry farm and later built two poultry houses of his own. Don continued to raise chickens and cattle.

Don was well loved by his family and community and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shover Springs Cemetery or Cross Roads Volunteer Fire Department.

Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home with Bro. Neal Ridling and Bro. Larry Byers officiating. Burial will follow at Shover Springs Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.
