New picnic pavilion for Prairie D’Ane Battlefield

PRESCOTT – The Nevada County Depot Museum announced construction on a new picnic pavilion has begun at historic Prairie D’Ane Battlefield. When complete, the pavilion will provide a covered space for travelers and community members alike. Construction of the pavilion is the latest improvement made to Prairie D’Ane Battlefield over the past year and provides yet another amenity for public use of the site.
Prairie D’Ane Battlefield, located at 2243 Highway 19 N. in Prescott, Arkansas, was the site of three-day engagement between Federal and Confederate forces in April 1864. Evidence of the battle is still visible at the site and many artifacts recovered from the battle are on display at the Nevada County Depot Museum. The battlefield is accessible seven days a week while the Depot Museum is open Thursdays – Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Nevada County Depot Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit humanities organization dedicated to preserving and sharing regional history.
