...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM FRIDAY TO NOON CST
SUNDAY…

* WHAT…Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet
accumulations up to 4 inches north of Interstate 30, with snow and
sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches between Interstate 20 and
Interstate 30. Ice accumulations between one-third of an inch to 1
inch possible between US Hwy 82 and US Hwy 84, with greatest
accumulations expected near the Interstate 20 corridor.

* WHERE…Portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north
central and northwest Louisiana, southeast Oklahoma, and northeast
Texas.

* WHEN…From 6 PM Friday to noon CST Sunday.

* IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on
power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting
power outages. Expect power outages and tree damage due to the
ice. Travel could be impossible. The hazardous conditions will
impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

* WHAT…Dangerously cold temperatures as low as 0 degrees possible.

* WHERE…Portions of south central and southwest Arkansas, north
central and northwest Louisiana, and east and northeast Texas.

* WHEN…From Sunday evening through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS…Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible.

Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
