Area school notes

The Bobcats have games today and tomorrow against De Queen. At Beryl Henry principal Jones let a student be a principal for the day after she earned the right through her good behavior. For both, it was a positive learning experience.
At Prescott there was a spelling bee last week. Prescott has obtained a High Impact Tutoring Grant that will help close to 40% of the Junior High at no cost to the District. Two new staff members were hired – Jessica Watkins and Hunter Lowery. Sixth grade attendance was above 98%.
An athletic facility was dedicated in Nevada Superintendent Roy McCoy’s honor for his 18 years’ service. Nevada sixth graders did a great job on their leaf project. Blue Jay coaches let an autistic student shoot hoops during the Mineral Springs game.
Blevins will be hosting the 1A-7 District Tournament this year and T-shirts are for sale commemorating this. The Science Club is doing a raffle of tools and a car cleaning kit.
Spring Hill is collecting new and gently used leggings for its students. Mrs. Tatom’s Cyber security students placed third in the state CyberPatriot 18 round security in December. Spring Hill is holding a Daddy Daughter sweetheart dance on February 28th.
With this being School Board Appreciation Month School Board members were recognized for their service.
