117th Founders Day reception for civil rights group planned

Local members honor Black History and NAACP leadership to advance equity, political rights, and social inclusion

HOPE – NAACP 6012B Hope-Hempstead County Branch is proud to join the NAACP National Conference and over 2,200 units, including local branches, youth councils, and college chapters across the United States recognizing the NAACP 117th Founders Day.

Hope-Hempstead County Branch is hosting its second Founders Day reception at the Hempstead County Courthouse on Thursday, February 12, 3:00 p.m. The Branch leadership and members invite all courthouse personnel and interested persons to attend the reception and join in celebrating the legacy, resilience, and power of the NAACP.

“It’s important for us to hold the NAACP Founders Day reception at the Hempstead County Courthouse to continue to connect Black people’s presence and role in building the County for over two centuries,” stated Sylvia C. Brown, Branch President. Last year, the Branch honored several prominent Black county residents featured in the Photo Gallery.
