Ken McLemore Pens Book

If you’ve lived in Hope or Hempstead County for the past 20 or 30 years, you’re probably familiar with the name Ken McLemore.  Ken, for many years, was a reporter for — and later editor of — the Hope Star.  And if you know Ken, you associate him with truth because his stories in the Star often presented hard, researched facts.  He’s been one of the most trusted people in Hempstead County for many years…but that’s changing.
Ken is not changing his integrity but he’s presenting the public his first published work of fiction.  His first novel, Lagniappe, was recently published by CS Publishing in Marshall, Texas.
The new book, according to McLemore, is the first of eight which “essentially revolve around the small fictional town of Destiny.”  He said the name of the town “does have a bit of metaphorical meaning to it.”  He continued, “This is not just a mystery/thriller genre concept, it has to do with the people who live in Destiny as well…and how things that occur, beginning in the first novel, affect them and how they respond to it.”  McLemore noted, “In some cases they have to respond extraordinarily; in other cases, they’re like most folks — they don’t know what to do.”
He said he tries to approach his characters and stories from a human standpoint.  “That’s something I have developed in my journalistic career, the idea of people watching,” said McLemore.  He draws on that in basically everything he’s written, he continued.
While this is McLemore’s first published work, he said he’s been writing since he was a child.  He’s also penned many books — how many he doesn’t know. He’s also written short stories, an anthology of which he’s calling Ozan Creek Gals.
McLemore’s new book is available via Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and a site called “All Authors.” Hopefully, there will be a book signing locally sometime in the future.
This reporter has read Lagniappe and can recommend it to all fans of mystery books.  In fact, I can’t wait until the next installment comes out!
