The Hope Civitan Club recently invited Michelle Witherspoon to shed some light on the subject of “recycling.” Michelle — who serves as Day Services Coordinator of ROC Enterprises for Rainbow of Challenges of Hope — delivered a lively program of much-needed information to Civitans at their regular meeting March 10. She covered the “do’s” and “don’ts” of contributing cardboard, newspapers, office and junk mail paper, soft drink cans, and even metal food cans to the ROC recycling center on Second Street in downtown Hope. She focused on the benefits of doing so, especially for the ROC clients who love their jobs and perform a much needed service for our city and community. Michelle explained the recycling process and stressed that more cardboard is needed for recycling, benefitting not only the ROC community but all of us — by keeping it out of landfills. She answered many questions from her Civitan audience, encouraging everyone to consider recycling first. The Hope Civitan Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Dos Loco Gringos Restaurant at 6 p.m. Visitors are invited.
