In complete but unofficial election results Tuesday (3-31), Challenger Becky Hood has defeated Incumbent Gail Wolfenbarger in the runoff for the position of Circuit Clerk of Hempstead County. Hood polled 590 votes compared to 369 for Wolfenbarger. The runoff was necessary after Hood and Wolfenbarger tied at 1,168 votes each in the primary election held earlier in March. After a recount and the counting of provisional votes, the two remained tied and the runoff was set to break the tie.
In Hempstead County there was only one other runoff, that in the Republican race to be that party’s nominee. In Hempstead County Senator Kim Hammer edged Bryan Norris 465 to 454.
In Nevada County, the only race in the runoff was between Hammer and Bryan. In Nevada County, Norris polled 75 votes compared to 42 for Kim Hammer.
