First United Methodist Church of Hope invites everyone to start Easter Sunday worship early with a special “Son Rise” service in the garden at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 7 a.m. this Sunday.
There are many references to gardens in the Bible; most notable at this time is the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed before his crucifixion. Another important Biblical garden is the Garden near Golgotha, where there was a new tomb in which the body of Jesus was laid, close to where he had been crucified.
Everyone is invited to experience worship of the Risen Christ in the garden area of St. Mark’s, watching the sun rise and reflecting on the loving sacrifice of God’s own Son. A traditional Easter service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s and all are also invited to attend.
