Fair Park Pool Opening for Summer

Summertime has arrived with the opening of Hope Fair Park Pool! Weather permitting, the historic pool will open its waters on Saturday, June 6th, at 12p.m, and will close at 5:00p.m. Admissions are $3.00 per person. 17 & under, and $5.00 per person 18 & up. Season passes are also available, with an individual pass costing $45.00, a couples pass worth $65.00, and finally the family pass costing $75.00.
To learn more about the opening of the pool, we asked longtime Fair Park employee Ronald Kidd a few questions about the pool and his job of maintaining it:
Reporter: How many gallons of water does the pool hold?
Ron: “It holds 10,000 gallons.”
Reporter: How difficult is it year after year to maintain the pool?
Ron: “Well, some years are better than others. The main task is to check all of the tiles in the pool because there are usually 50 to 100 tiles that have to be replaced per year. Along with that, you of course have to clean the pool and put a new coat of paint on it”.
Reporter: Thank you for your hard work, Ron. How many years have you been maintaining the pool?
Ron: “I have been doing this job for 30 years”.
With temperatures rising for the summer, there is no better time and place to cool off than now at the Fair Park pool!
