Hope Parks and Recreation Director Summer Chambers was guest speaker at the June 23 meeting of the Hope Civitan Club. She brought club members up-to-date on activities scheduled for the July 4th celebration, “Sparks Fly in July,” at the Hope Municipal Airport. The celebration, sponsored by the Hope Tourism Commission, will feature live music, inflatables, food trucks, and fireworks after dark, she said. Chambers also briefed the group on progress toward recreational improvements underway, including work being done in preparation for a recreation center at the corner of 16th Street and Highway 174 as well as plans for the city’s parks. She also covered the Hope Watermelon Festival, sports activities in the parks, and answered many questions to conclude a most informative program.
