William Thomas McKinnon – Updated

William Thomas McKinnon, age 93 of Prescott, AR passed from this life on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home. Known as Thomas to everyone apart from his brother Ralph who affectionately and comically called him “Willie,” was born September 4th, 1932, in Blevins, Arkansas, Thomas was the oldest of seven children born to the late Harvey and Clyda Brown McKinnon.

Thomas graduated high school from Prescott and began his life as a farmer, cattleman and horseman until he served in the Korean War. During that time, he made a best friend, Benny McGowne, that would stand beside him until Benny passed away in 1999.

Thomas was of the Baptist faith and most recently attended Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Later in life Thomas hauled many loads of gravel to various parts of South Arkansas and traveled many miles as a successful Moorman Feed salesman. He later worked and retired from the Neveda County Road Department. Thomas and his family were also honored as Farm Family of the Year for Neveda County many years ago.

Thomas is proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth McKinnon, Ralph McKinnon, Jake McKinnon and an adopted brother Ralph Pendergast.

Left to treasure his memory are his three children, Grace Ann Leamons, of Gurdon, Rebecca “Becky” Hooker of Hot Springs and Blake McKinnon of Prescott. His grandchildren, Jeremy Leamons, Autumn Leamons Smith (Chad), Hunter McKinnon (Kaitie), Kirby Nelson (Steven) and Tony Hooker (Holly). His great-grandchildren Riley, Sawyer and Jud Leamons, Blaise Childres, Harleigh Smith, Kaity Hooker Hellums (Hunter) and Kayden Nelson. Thomas had one great great grandchildren Banks and Scottie McKinnon and Paisley Hellums. His siblings, Mary Cobb, Joan Barton and Judy Martin. Along with Thomas’ special friend Nancy McAteer

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and the nurses that cared for Thomas in his last few days, Cheryl, Joy, Taylor and Connie and caregiver Delta.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Leamons, Sawyer Leamons, Jud Leamons, Chad Smith, Hunter McKinnon, Terry Don McKinnon and Kenny McKinnon.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Ray, Odell Harris, Riley Leamons and Aaron Hill.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 10:00- 11:00 AM.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home- Prescott.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home of Prescott, caring for the community with compassion and dignity.
