HOPE – A 52 year career officially came to a close on Saturday, July 18th as First Presbyterian Church of Hope hosted a retirement reception for Dr. Ladell Douglas, a local pediatrician. A nice assortment of family and friends convened in the church fellowship hall between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to express their love and appreciation to “Dr. D”, as he is known, and to his wife, Elaine Douglas. .The room was cheerfully decorated with a reception table with a beautiful vase of summer flowers in the center. Surrounding the flowers was a spray of yummy pick-up foods, including a bowl filled with smoked ribs, which seemed to be a favorite of Dr. Douglas. More fresh-picked flowers were the centerpiece of each table where guests sat to eat and visit. If you see Dr. Douglas around town now that he is retired, give him a big hug and tell him how you are thankful for his many years of taking care of the children of Hope.
