Adla “Elaine” Clark, 78, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.
She was born on January 30, 1948, to Bertha and John W. Sams in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
Elaine was a member of Midway Methodist Church and part of the Emmet High School Class of ‘66. She was also an active member of the Lions Club. She worked for over 20 years in banking until she decided to go back to school to earn her master’s degree in mental health. She worked in the social work field for several years before finally retiring.
She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, John and Rue Sams; first husband, Gary Glen Cross; one brother, Johhny Dean Sams; one son, Ganon O’Neal Cross; stepson and daughter-in-law, Kevin and April Clark; 3 brothers-in-law, Larry Harper, Doug Brantely, Troy Goins; sister-in-law, Alita Sams.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Gary Dean Clark; daughter, Whitney Noel Cross-Hall; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, John-Bradley Hall (Kiara) daughter Neyhlani, Elcena Alexus Hall son Jaxon daughter J’Laya, Isaiah Malik Cross (J’Naya), Kryslyn Nichelle Forte, Jazlyn Noelle Forte; stepdaughter Stacey Clark Davis (Richard); 5 step-grandchildren, Taylor Walker (Josh), Tatum Davis (Ty Butler), Kaylee Osban (Quinton), Carter Krishna, Carlee Clark; 3 step great-grandchildren, Cannon Walker, Jordi Butler, Willie Dean Osban; sisters, Carolyn Harper, Betty Brantley, Ida Goins; brother, Carl Sams (Vicki); sister-in-law, Robin Sams; host of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Janice Coleman.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 1:00- 2:00 PM at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home- Hope Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12,2026, at 2:00 PM at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home- Hope Chapel with Bro. John Nations officiating.
Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery in Prescott, AR under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home.
