HOPE – As a favorite son of Hope and Arkansas, former president Bill Clinton will be celebrating his 80th birthday on August 19th, the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home N.H.S. and the Klipsch Museum of Sound will host an Evening of Jazz on Saturday, August 22nd. This event began many years ago as a simple party with cake and birthday wishes held annually and organized by the Clinton Birthplace Foundation, a local organization. Since then, it has now developed into a day of jazz jubilee in honor of President Clinton’s knack for music. This year, the organizers of the event have amplified the performance, calling in the Louisiana State University Jazz Band to kickoff the commemoration at 2:00 pm on the Klipsch Stage. The Tiger Jazz Band’s performance will finish at 3:00 and will be followed by the Hope High School Jazz Band and by other notable groups including the LSU Bop Quintet, the Michael Bartlett Trio, Solitude, and Billy Jones and the Delta Blues Outlaws. After the event, the LSU Tiger Jazz Band will host a clinic for the Hope High School Jazz Band. The event will be totally free for attendees. Food trucks offering drinks, sweets and more will also be available. As this is an outside event, guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to sit in. In the event of severe weather, the event will be held in the Klipsch Auditorium at Hope City Hall.
