Join The Depot Museum for a family dinner

PRESCOTT — The Nevada County Depot Museum invites you to “Family Dinner: Preserving Family History Through Food and Photographs,” a 3-evening workshop combining elements of storytelling, genealogy, and family recipes. Tickets are just $15 each and can be purchased today at TheDepotMuseum.org/events. Seating is limited, so sign up today!

“When I am missing a loved one, preparing a recipe from my grandmother’s recipe box brings them close to me,” said Depot Museum Board member, Sheila Ballard. “Childhood memories and the family member who was known for it – what better way to share those memories of the past.”

The program will guide participants through the first steps in creating a family memory book centered around food and family traditions. All three sessions are scheduled for consecutive Monday evenings beginning at 5:30 p.m.

⦁ Session #1 – Monday, September 14 – Finding Your Story Participants will bring a family recipe and at least one photograph of someone related to that family recipe. In this session, we will explore ways to find the story you want to tell.

⦁ Session #2 – Monday, September 21 – Assemble Your Story Participants will use family recipes and photographs to create at least one scrapbook layout that tells the story chosen in Session #1. Supplies will be provided or you can bring your own!

⦁ Session #3 – Monday, September 28 – Share Your Story Potluck Participants will share their story with the group and bring a potluck dish featuring their chosen family recipe to share! Each participant can bring a guest to the potluck.

Scrapbooking supplies will be supplied, but participants need to bring at least one family recipe and one photograph. Registration is required! Early registration is just $15 for all 3 sessions. The deadline for early registration is September 1. Late registration is $25 for all 3 sessions. The final deadline is September 8. Light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited, so sign up today online or email us at TheDepotMuseum@gmail.com.
