Hempstead County farmer Caleb Plyler has announced his candidacy for Farm Credit Services of Western Arkansas Director Area 3.
Plyler and his family own and operate Plyler and Son Charolais, a family cattle operation in Hempstead County
Plyler was raised on a diversified agricultural operation consisting of cattle, broiler production, and row crops. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University and his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. The family’s operation now consists of a purebred Charolais cow-calf operation with a primary focus on producing high-quality herd sires for commercial and purebred cattle producers.
Plyler notes, “I believe agricultural finance is essential to both the present strength and future success of Arkansas agriculture, particularly for family farms, ranches, and the next generation of producers”.
Ballots for the race will be mailed in early September. Ballots must be returned by October 5th to be counted.
