Hope Civitan Club Hears United Way Program

Brandon and Gina Perkins, representing Hempstead County United Way, were guests of the Hope Civitan Club at its regular meeting Tuesday, August 25.  Gina presented information on the partner agencies of United Way, describing some of the ways those agencies make our county a better and more compassionate place to live.  Each of the UW agencies help local residents in some way — by serving youth, the elderly, foster children, the homeless, the hungry, victims of domestic violence, and those needing but unable to afford medical care or hospice.

Information was also given by the couple about the upcoming United Way Gala, scheduled for Thursday, October 22.  “Moonlight & Magnolias” is the gala’s theme, featuring dinner, music, dancing and awards.  The gala will be held at the Hope Country Club; the Glenn Woodruff Memorial Golf Tournament is set for the following day, Friday, October 23.  Proceeds of both events support a dozen local non-profit agencies and vital programs across Hempstead County.  More information can be found on the UW of Hempstead County Facebook page or official website.
