HOPE – Friday night, Hope Public Schools proudly unveiled the Susan Henley Powers Concession Stand, honoring a woman who gave so much of herself to our students, schools, and community.
Susan devoted 40 years to Hope Public Schools as a teacher and coach. Her service didn’t stop when she retired. She continued giving back, including volunteering her time to operate the concession stand she loved.
Her husband, T. Powers, shared what seeing her name at the stadium means“When we’re in this stadium, we can see her name here, and it means a lot.”
And Coach Philip Turner captured Susan’s impact in just a few words, calling her “the heartbeat of Hope Public School District.”
That heartbeat lives on.
We are grateful to Susan’s family for sharing her with Hope Public Schools for so many years. Now, generations of Bobcats who walk through Hammons Stadium will see her name and be reminded of a life defined by service.
