HOPE — Hope Public Schools maintained an overall district rating of C in the latest state accountability results while increasing district academic achievement points by 19 points.
The latest results provide a broader look at student performance across the district, highlighting areas of progress in achievement, growth and readiness, along with opportunities for continued improvement.
Achievement
District academic achievement points increased by 19 points, while Clinton Primary recorded a seven-point increase in student achievement.
At the campus level, Beryl Henry Elementary increased its point total by 43 points, while Yerger Middle School increased its total points by 62 points. Those gains ranked BHE and YMS No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, for increased achievement across the SWAEC cooperative. Clinton Primary also recorded a seven-point increase in student achievement.
The results add another measure of progress as Hope Public Schools continues its focus on strengthening academic outcomes across the district.
Growth
Student growth was another area of strength within the latest results.
Clinton Primary exceeded the state average in science growth by eight points and showed especially strong science growth among students in the lowest 25%.
Beryl Henry Elementary exceeded the state median in science growth.
Yerger Middle School also exceeded state comparisons in several areas, including math and ELA performance among students in the lowest 25%.
Readiness
Hope High School exceeded the state in Success Ready indicators by 14 points.
Success Ready measures include student accomplishments such as associate degrees, skilled-trade degrees and seals of biliteracy, reflecting the district’s continued focus on preparing students for opportunities beyond graduation.
Building on the Progress
The latest results provide both reasons to recognize progress and areas where continued work is needed.
The gains reflected in the data represent the work of students, educators, administrators, support staff and families throughout Hope Public Schools.
District leadership will continue reviewing the results to better understand areas of strength, identify opportunities for improvement and build on the progress already taking place across the district.
