

FULTON – The Fulton Town Council met October 5th at 6:36 pm. After a prayer, there was a roll call, where all were present except Wanda Kootnz. The previous meeting’s minutes were read. There were three corrections noted. There was a passed motion to accept the minutes with those corrections.
Mayor Henry Hale gave the water/sewer report. He gave the expenditures for that. There was a passed motion to accept the water/sewer report. The city has finished several repair/sewer update projects.
Francis Hendrix gave the financial report. There was a passed motion to accept the report.
John Pettit gave the report on the fire department. There were a total of 10 fire/medical calls this month. Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus refill machine ls in service, and a SCBA refill trailer was donated by Nashville Fire Department. Chief Pettit said that bottles for the in-house SCBA refill machine cost $770. The ladder truck has the Fulton name on it now. Chief Pettit said that the County is still under a burn ban. There was a passed motion to accept the report.
Mayor Hale read a resolution to put $3.05 million in the city’s bank account for water system repair. There was a passed motion to accept the resolution. Mayor Hale made a recommendation to hire John Presley for one month, to handle the city park and mow streets. The motion passed.
Sylvia Brown presented information about a flooding awareness grant. She stated that city infrastructure was built for the current climate we’re in, but that infrastructure will need to be updated. A nonprofit tries to respond to the flood plan and protect people from that. Cydnee Harris, was virtually watching the meeting Mayor Henry Hale asked Harris how her nonprofit could help Fulton’s flooding problem. What she said was that they were using the grant to help McNab, Fulton, Stamps and Lewisville with studies on flooding for each town. Ms. Brown said those studies could help determine culvert size, etc.;. She said 2027 would mark the centennial of the 1927 Mississippi flood. Mayor Hale thanked Ms. Brown for coming.
