Hope Civitan Club Hears Program on Civil War Weekend

The Hope Civitan Club recently heard a very interesting program on the upcoming Civil War Weekend.  Speakers Rachel Coble, park interpreter at Historic Washington State Park, and Paul Ridgell, of the Nevada County Depot Museum, outlined activities for this weekend, November 6-7. Those activities include Civil War Day for Schools at HWSP this Friday, a reenactment of the Skirmish at Prairie D’Ane Battlefield this Saturday, and an opportunity after the battle to find out what life was like during the Civil War era.  The battle reenactment will take place 11 a.m.-noon Saturday on a portion of the original battlefield — located at 2243 Highway North, off Interstate 30 at Exit 46 in Prescott.  Ridgell said the cost is $10 per vehicle and he recommended bringing a chair and an umbrella.  All other activites, including a Civil War era ball, will take place in Washington.  The Saturday activities begin at 1 p.m. with adult price $10 and children 6-12 $6.  The speakers are pictured with Hope Civitan Club President Amber Mackey.
