PRESCOTT – Snow began falling in Prescott and Nevada County shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, much to the delight of many.

At times snowfall was fairly heavy, while dropping off and nearly stopping at other times. Predictions called for anywhere from a half-inch to two inches of accumulation. The county was placed under a weather warning until 6 p.m. Friday evening.

School let out at 1 p.m.in Prescott, while Nevada County Judge Mark Glass shut down the Nevada County Courthouse and other county operations at noon. Prescott Mayor Terry Oliver closed the city offices at 2:30 p.m.

Shortly after noon there was still plenty of milk and bread on the shelves at Cash Savers, but the parking lot was full and patrons were stocking up for possible bad weather and for the weekend in general.
