4-10JAMIE HILLERY 001PRESCOTT – Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, talked about the Chamber’s plans for 2017.

She pointed out several things haven’t been set yet as the Chamber’s board of directors needs to meet and make firm plans.

The next major event, she said, will be the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt is scheduled for April 8 from 10 a.m. until noon. At this time, the hunt may be held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds, but she’s looking for other options. This year’s hunt will again include the sack and spoon races and the Easter Bunny will be there. A total of 2,000 plastic eggs will be hidden for children to find. Children will hunt in groups based on their age.

This year’s banquet, she said, is a work in progress, but the date has been set for April 25 at the Prescott High School cafeteria. The board will be working on a theme for the banquet, which will again include the silent and live auctions to help raise money for the Chamber.

The crawfish boil will be held, but no date has been set for it as yet. Most of the Chamber’s plans will be to have the same events as last year, such as the Fall Festival, Christmas parade, Christmas on the Square and Breakfast with Santa. However, the times and dates for these events have not been set at this time.

Hillery said the Chamber is looking at hosting a community wide garage sale sometime this year, and, weather permitting, will be having the Yard of the Month starting in March.

In addition, she reminds seniors in the Prescott and Nevada school districts about the Chamber Scholarship, $250 for the winners. However, students interested must apply and community service is required to get the scholarship.

Hillery reminds businesses and groups plenty of dates are still available for community coffees throughout the year.
