PRESCOTT – Expired tags led to the arrest of Jeremy Warren, 37, of Camden, on drug charges.

According to a report from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO), Deputy Robert Missey was on patrol around 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, when he noticed a vehicle heading east on Hwy. 24 with expired tags.

He saw the car turn right onto Fifth Street. Missey attempted to stop the vehicle, only to have the driver attempt to get away, reportedly running several stop signs in the process. The vehicle managed to make a block and get back on Hwy. 24 East, but lost control and struck a power pole.

The driver was identified as Warren, and a search of the vehicle turned up about 27 grams of a crystal type substance believed to be methamphetamine along with other drug-related items. Warren also had a seven-year-old child in the vehicle at the time. Family members were contacted to come and get the child.

No one was injured in the accident.

Warren was taken to the Nevada County Jail and held for his first appearance on the following charges: fictitious vehicle license, expired vehicle license, no proof of liability insurance, driving on a suspended license, running a stop sign, carless and prohibited driving, fleeing in a vehicle, endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver.
