HOPE – A call concerning a suspicious person led to the arrest of Tina Pennington.
The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) received a call about a suspicious person around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Hempstead 227 North. According to a report from the HCSO, a deputy made contact with Pennington and detected the odor of alcohol as the two talked. He asked what and how much she’d been drinking and was reportedly informed she’d been drinking “Hot Damn” and was “very intoxicated”. When asked why she was trespassing, she reportedly told the deputy she was trying to get home.

Hector and Diana Aguirre were contacted by the deputy. Diana Aguirre said when she got home from work Pennington allegedly tried to get into her vehicle, but was she managed to keep Pennington out. According to the report, Aguirre said Pennington told them she wanted to die and began striking herself with the bottles she had. The two told the deputy they were concerned about her and didn’t want Pennington to harm herself.

Pennington was arrested for public intoxication and criminal trespassing. When placed in the back seat of the patrol unit, she reportedly began banging her head against the window and cage. Attempts to calm her down were successful, temporarily. As she was being taken to the Hempstead County Detention Center, she again began banging her head on the window and cage. The deputy put in a call to have emergency medical services on hand when he arrives.

Also, while on the way to the jail, Pennington reportedly attempted to open the door, managing to break the door handle on the driver’s side. When he made it to the jail, Pennington reportedly again began banging her head on the window of the unit.

A detention officer attempted to help the deputy remove Pennington from the vehicle, only to have her hook her leg under the seat. Eventually, according to the report, they managed to get her out of the car and put a restraining chain on her. EMS attempted to treat Pennington, who refused.

She was then taken into the jail and booked.

  2. there is no sin that we can’t be forgiven for if we only humble ourselves as a little child and repent of our sins and ask Jesus to be our savior. John 3-16 who so ever is you and me.
