HOPE – Hope’s Third District Coliseum was the site of the 18th Annual Spring Hill High School Rodeo.
While it was cold and rainy outside, fans didn’t let that bother them as many brought small, butane space heaters to stay warm while they watched the youngsters wrangling cattle. There was a good crowd and most took advantage of the fare being offered at the concession stand, especially the hot chocolate and coffee.
Prior to the rodeo, those attending had the chance to bid on different items for the silent auction. The bulk of the auction items were made by the students and included lamps, tables and Adirondack chairs.
The rodeo kicked off with the grand entry and was followed by pole bending, chute dogging, sheep dressing, goat tying, the wild steer catch and release, barrel pick-up, mutton bustin, the Spring Hill scramble, stick horse barrels, barrel racing, break away roping, tie down roping, junior bull riding and bull riding. Rodeo fans got their money’s worth watching the students compete.
