IMG_1334Mrs. Martha Lee (Marty) Johnson, age 87 of Austin, Texas, formerly of Prescott, passed away March 26 at Grace House in Austin, Texas. She was born in Prescott, Arkansas on February 17, 1930 to Marie and Vuel Chamberlain. She married the late Richard (Dick) Johnson after completing school, they moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and had two children.

Martha Lee grew up in Prescott and spent many of her young years in Guthrie’s drug store working various jobs for her father who was the pharmacist there. She was the drum major her senior year at Prescott High School. She was beautiful regardless of whether she was the homecoming queen finalist or while catching fish at Suckles Lake.

Marty spent the majority of her adult life in Grand Prairie and Arlington, Texas. She retired from LTV and later went to work for Hughes Aircraft. More than anything else she was a devoted daughter to her parents and mother to her children. She loved to host parties and entertain. She truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends, eating, spending time with family, cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys, and socializing with others, be it lifelong friends or people she had just met. She was witty and animated, even up to the time her health began to fail. Her sense of humor, even that which could turn a face red, will be missed by all.

Martha Lee is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Elizabeth Johnson and granddaughter, Jillian, her daughter and son-in-law Stacy and Roy Lawrence, her granddaughter Brittany (Britt) Bishop, grandson Colby Bishop and his wife, Ginger, along with numerous grand-dogs.
