PRESCOTT – In an effort to expand and improve the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, the NCSO is working to raise money for a K-9 unit.

Starting Wednesday, April 5, the NSCO is accepting donations to go toward this project. A release from the NCSO states K-9s have been a valuable asset to law enforcement departments across the country as the dogs’ sense of smell helps with narcotics cases, finding criminals and locating missing persons.

According to the release, it will cost about $10,000 to purchase and train a K-9 unit.

Anyone interested in donating can contact Investigator Jeremy Hendrix at the NCSO at 870-887-2616, ext. 224, or the Bank of Prescott where a K-9 fund has been established.
