Garrett Memorial Christian School Hosts Hope/Hempstead County Chamber Coffee

HOPE – The sixth-grade class of Garrett Memorial Christian School hosted the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Coffee on Wednesday April 19th.

The students, directed by teacher Judy Alexander, did a wonderful job greeting guests, asking about drink refills and serving the varied finger foods available. Ms. Alexander stated that the sixth-grade has always hosted the Coffee; it is, indeed, a “rite of passage”.

Seventeen years ago, Garrett Memorial Christian School was established in Hope. The school began with just 30 students. Today their enrollment has swelled to over 270 students in K-12th grade. This year they will graduate their sixth and largest graduating class of 14. To date, 45 students have gradually from Garrett Memorial, earning over &2,250,000 in scholarships.

Garrett’s new baseball and softball fields are nearing completion.

In September, the school launched its first capital fundraising campaign (The Legacy Project). The goal is to raise &2,500,000 to construct a new facility to house their indoor athletic events and provide them with additional classroom space to accommodate up to 125 more students. To date they have raised over $504,000.

The average class size of 15; the average ACT score is 26 and, the Standardized Test Scores are in the top 20% nationally.
