Despite Inclement Weather, Local Events Move Forward

The storms that wreaked havoc over the area on Friday and Saturday created difficulties for local event planners.

The second day of the 16th Annual Twin Rivers Festival in McNab had to be cancelled including the noon parade and evening concert. According to Mayor Conway “The grounds were too wet to be safe for either participants or performers”.

Other events managed to pull through. The Ozan Volunteer Fire Department Benefit Barbecue went on as scheduled after the weather cleared. The event was well attended and the cooks wearing their signature yellow t-shirts were busy at eight barbecue pits cooking chicken, pork ribs, and beans. Fire Chief, Dwayne Carver, stated the turnout was really good considering the weather.

In Hope, the PlowBoys Car Club held their monthly showcase Saturday downtown on Main Street outside Tailgaters Restaurant with over twenty vintage cars lining the street. Although the weather was turning chilly for this time of year, and more rain was threatening, the crowd was mingling around, visiting, and admiring the cars, including some roadsters, and trucks (see attached photo, by Meredith P. Embry).
