Mrs. Fern Hatfield Tarpley White
Mrs. Fern Hatfield Tarpley White, 89, of Spring Hill, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Texarkana, Texas. She was born in Hope, Arkansas on January 13, 1928 to Hiram J. and Winifred Ferguson Hatfield. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Spring Hill.
Mrs. White enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was well known for her delicious cinnamon rolls and tea rings.
She had worked at Spring Hill Public Schools as an English Teacher for 25 years. She also worked as a proofreader and Linotype operator in publishing newspapers in several communities.
Mrs. White is preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Winifred Hatfield and by her late husbands, William E. Tarpley and Clifford Earl White.
Survivors include her daughter, Vanessa Shelburne, her husband Doug, of Spring Hill; her step-children, Howard White of Mesquite, TX, Paul White of Hope and Norma Nooner of Hot Springs; her four sisters, Louise Smith, Margaret Sengel and Mollie Stroud, all of Spring Hill, AR and Sue Ashton and husband John, of McKinney, TX; her two grandchildren, Williams Garrett Shelburne of London, UK and Rachel Grace Shelburne of Magnolia, AR; her step-grandchildren Robert Morse of Vilonia, AR, Joseph Morse of Mayflower, AR, Stacy Crimes and Patrick White, both of Tyler, TX; her four step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can beads to Bethany Baptist Church, 589 Hwy. 355 West, Hope, AR 71801 or to the Spring Hill High School Library, 633 Hwy. 355 West, Hope, AR 71801.
Funeral service for Mrs. White will be 2:00pm Sunday, April 30, 2017, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest Funeral Home, 1001 South Main Street, Hope, with Bro. Eric Fisher officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm Sunday, one hour before the service. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetary in Spring Hill, AR.
