HOPE – Teachers get the spotlight May 1 – 5th during Teacher Appreciation Week in Hope Public Schools.

Superintendent Bobby Hart said the celebration is intended to recognize the value of teachers and the teaching profession.

“Teaching is the most valuable profession in the world,” Hart said. “We teach future lawyers, doctors, inventors, mechanics…you name it, a teacher played a part in their lives.”

He said the HPS will host a special luncheon on each campus in the district during the celebration week.

Hope High School teachers will be feted on Monday at 11:00am and Yerger Middle School teachers recognized Tuesday at 11:00am. Recognition shifts to Beryl Henry Elementary School on Wednesday at 10:30am, followed by Hope Academy of Public Service and the ABC Preschool teachers at the historic Garland campus on Thursday at 12:15pm. Teachers at Clinton Primary School will be hosted at 11:00am on Friday.

“HPS wants to sincerely say ‘thank you’ to all of our teachers,” Hart said. “Thank you for shaping lives and influencing futures.”

McDonald’s of Hope will join in the celebration by providing any school teacher and school staff member a free drink of their choice on May 2nd. School identification is required to participate, and the offer is limited to one choice of soft drink, tea, McCafe, Slushie or other drink.

Events planned for individual campuses include special treats for teachers throughout the week at Clinton Primary School; daily surprises provided by the Parental Advisory Committee at HAPS; daily ‘thank you’ treats and gifts through the week, special luncheons and a special appreciation gift for teachers on Friday at BHE; and, a series of related activities for teachers at Hope High School.image
