Spring Hill Bears 2017 2A State Baseball Champions
Today the Spring Hill Bears defeated St. Joseph 5-0. The winning play of the game was in the hands of the pitcher Wesley Featherston who struck out D Schrekenhofer.
The Spring Hill Bears took an early lead. Will Phillips got a single on a hard ground ball to center fielder B Vandivere. Wesley Featherston got to first on a hard ground ball to right fielder which moved the runner Will Phillips to 2nd. Josh Winfield got a hit and made it to 1st while Will Phillips got out going to 3rd. Wesley Featherston advanced to 2nd. Blake Waller hit a line drive to center fielder. Blake Waller then advanced to 2nd on the throw while Wesley Featherston scores on the throw. Josh Winfield advanced to 3rd on the throw.
One bright spot for St. Joseph was when D Beck hit a single in the first inning But, the bears quickly shut that down.
The Bears had seven hits in the game. Phillips and Waller each got multiple hits for Spring Hill. Phillips had 3 hits for the game and Waller had 2 hits. They both drove 2 runs home. Spring Hill Bears did not have a single error in the field. Josh Winfield had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.
St. Joseph had a total of four hits for the game where T Coney led with two hits in four at bats.
