Memorial Day Ceremony
HOPE- On Monday, May 29 the Hempstead County Courthouse hosted a Memorial Day Ceremony. Judge Haskell Morris opened the ceremony, he introduced a 6 year old boy from Hope who has been creating care packages. The United States Marine Corp presented the colors, followed by the National Anthem sang by Ms. Gwen Muldrew. State Representative Danny Watson spoke at the event.
Colonel David Lively USA (ret) was the guest speaker for the event, he read letters that were written to his father he was a Colonel before him from a fiancé and one from a father. With both letters they were loved ones who were MIA and the family had not heard from anyone concerning there loved ones so they reached out to him in hope to find answers of their loved one. The Hope High School Air Force ROTC, presented the wreath for the event with taps by the U.S. Army Band, with lowering of the colors to half-mast of U.S. Marine Coast Color Guard. Pastor Steven Johnson of the First United Methodist Church of Hope gave the benediction. Special guests where present at the ceremony such as; the Rosenbaum family, Robinson family, and the Holt family.
