FARMERS MARKET 002PRESCOTT – Opening ceremonies, of a sort, were held for the Nevada County Farmer’s Market Friday.

While Jamie Hillery, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, made several gallons of lemonade for guests, the customers were more interested in looking over and buying fresh produce. The produce on hand included: corn, tomatoes (green and ripe) new potatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, peppers, squash, green beans, onions, jams and jellies and fresh herbs.

Customers, though, arrived well before the 9:30 a.m. start to begin making their purchases. One customer bought the better part of  a half-bushel of corn. Several farmers sold out of their produce.
