“Summer In The City” To Be Held In Hope

HOPE – The Hope Downtown Network is sponsoring “Summer in the City” to be held in historic downtown Hope on Saturday, June 24, 2017.

Beginning at 8 am, Trade Day will be in full swing at the corner of Division Street and Elm Street, vendors will be set up and selling items such as Juanita’s famous peanut brittle, fashion clothing and handmade crafts as well as beautiful hand made wooden benches and rocking chairs. There is something for everyone at Trade Day!

A Baggo Tournament will start at 3:00 pm, with entrants vying for cash and merchandise prizes. Baggo (or cornhole as it is also known) is a fun game of skill for everyone – from children to adults. Entry fee is $10 for a team of two adults and free for children under 12 years of age.

The Hope Lion’s Club will host their famous fish fry beginning at 4:30 pm and serving until 7:00 pm. For $10, your plate will include fish, chicken, coleslaw, hushpuppies, French fries, lemonade and tea! Tickets can be purchased in advance at Tailgaters Burger Company, Bob’s Antiques, Southern Printing/Inked Threads, SWS Engraving, LaGrone Williams Hardware, Wilson’s Four States Furniture, Diamond Bank, Hope Floral, and Elm Street Antiques. Proceeds from the fish fry will go to the Hope Downtown Network and their efforts to beautify downtown Hope.

Entertainment will be provided by Mark Keith’s Spare Time Band and the Historic Washington Dancers from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. In addition, Plow Boys Cruise Night will be set up on Main Street in front of Tailgaters from 5:00 – 8:00 pm It’s a great place to see vintage cars and corvettes on display.

Dusk (about 9 pm) will bring the Movie on Main! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a family movie free of charge!image
