Key attends treasurer’s meeting

LITTLE ROCK – Nevada County Treasurer, Susie Key, recently attended the Arkansas County Treasurer’s Association’s summer continuing education meeting.

The meeting was held at the Arkansas State University student center in Searcy. Key was one of 62 county treasurers in attendance.

The association’s continuing education committee and executive board conducted their meetings on June 7, and Eddie Jones, with the Arkansas Association of Counties, spoke to the group on June 8. He gave an update on the legislative session and reviewed laws passed, telling what effect they will have on counties.

Gail Stone, executive director of the Arkansas Public Employees’ retirement Systems (APERS), discussed retirement.

Treasurers and their deputies had a break out session for roundtable discussions of various topics of interests for county treasurer offices.
