Civil Dispute

On June 26, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Deputy Malone was dispatched to the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office in reference to traffic in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office.Upon arrival he made contact with a male who stated he and his wife are separated and he has custody of their two daughters. The male stated his wife has their daughters Social Security cards, birth certificates, and AR-kids cards. The male stated he needs the information because he is trying to make his wife pay child support.

Deputy Malone advised the male he would try to make contact with his wife and advise her that he needs the information.

Deputy Malone attempted to make contact with the wife and was unsuccessful. He advised the male that he may have to request copies of the information from the Social security office, AR-kids, and the Department of Health. For the information.

Theft of Property

Civil Dispute

On June 26, at approximately 5 p.m., Deputy Brown received a call regarding theft of an A/C unit, located at 5079 Highway 29 N, in Hope.

He made contact with Maria Cantu who stated she bought a trailer house from Ricardo Capetillo a while back and paid $5,000 for it. Cantu stated she paid it off in three payments that were verbally agreed upon with her and Capetillo. Cantu stated she came to her residence on this date and noticed the A/C unit was missing from the house. She spoke with Capetillo and he told them he took the unit because they still owed on the property. She stated she paid the trailer off in full and she just wanted the unit back.

Deputy Brown made contact with Capetillo who stated the trailer was not paid for and Cantu did not finish paying it off like she stated. He stated she sold the trailer to someone else before paying it off. He stated he took the A/C unit and would not return it until the property was paid for. He stated he had all the paper work to the property in his name. Deputy Brown advised Capetillo he needed to take this matter to civil court, so no further problems would arise.

Civil Disturbance

On June 26, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Deputy Brown received a call regarding a disturbance between a mother and daughter, located at 3299 Highway 73 E, in Hope.

Upon arrival Deputy Brown met with the51 year old mother who stated her and her 28-year-old daughter, had been in a verbal altercation. Dana stated Chelsea was being lazy and not helping do anything around the house. The mother stated she and she got into an argument and her daughter threw a trash can.

Deputy Brown advised the mother to seek an eviction notice. The daughter agreed to leave.

Theft of Property

On June 26, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Deputy Mc Bride was contacted by Skylar Hoball at the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department in reference to theft.

Hoball stated Thomas Varner took a no spill gas can from his property. Hoball stated he saw his gas can in the back of Varner’s truck. He stated he took the gas can back. Hoball stated he would like VArner banned from the property.

Residential Burglary

On June 26, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Deputy Mc Bride was dispatched to 2708 West Avenue B in reference to a residential burglary. Upon arrival, I made contact with Linda Daughtery. She stated she left her residence at approximately 9:30 a.m. on June 27, and returned on June 28, at approximately 10 a.m.

Daughtery stated when she arrived to the residence, she walked into her carport and saw the glass in the side door was broken. She stated she entered the residence and saw two drawers were open in the kitchen and items were moved around. She stated when she entered the hallway, she noticed a couple of items were knocked over. Daughtery stated she went into her bedroom and noticed that her jewelry boxes were opened and emptied.

Theft of Property

On June 26, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Deputy Mc Bride contacted Marcus Key at in reference to theft of property. Key stated that he went to work yesterday morning and when he returned home, his Murray lawnmower was missing.

Key stated the lawnmower was a red Murray push mower and had big tires on the rear. Key stated the lawnmower was parked on his porch next to his ZTR lawnmower. He stated the push mower was the only thing missing. He stated he does not know the serial number for the Murray.

Officer Assist

On June 25, at approximately 10 p.m., Deputy Sorensen and Loe were dispatched to 1709 North Spruce Street in Hope in reference to an Officer Assist.

Upon arrival, Deputy Sorensen and Loe assisted Hope Police Department direct traffic into and out of Northside Park. A fight then broke out inside of the park where Deputy Sorensen and Loe, in order to prevent the situation from escalating any further, and to help control the large crowd that had gathered around the fight in progress, deployed our department issued OC spray, spraying the two males involved in the physical altercation. After spraying the two individuals, the crowd immediately began to disperse, and in the process the two suspects involved in the physical altercation managed to escape into the crowd. Hope Police Department advised it did not want any officers or deputies to pursue the suspects in order to preserve officer safety. Deputy Sorensen and Loe assisted the Hope Police Department in making sure no other fights broke out.
