Hope Kiwanis Hears From Bubba Powers Of Southwest Arkansas Counseling And Mental Health
HOPE – The Hope Kiwanis Club heard from Bubba Powers, Director of Youth Services for Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health on Tuesday.
Powers coordinates and supervises all probation and court services to juvenile courts in an eight county area. Powers talked about efforts to secure grant funds for Hempstead and Nevada County to hire an intensive probation supervisor. This supervisor will work closely with the most at-risk youth. This person will supervise the child and their family on a 24/7 basis. The supervisor will meet with these youngsters every day of the week.
He also talked about after school and summer programming for these at-risk kids that his agency will develop. He said the aim is to make sure these youngsters never go back to the Department of Youth Services.
