Cancer tourney fun

CANCER TOURNEY 031PRESCOTT – Not many signed up for the morning flight of the 15th Annual Jim McKenzie Golf Tournament Saturday.

However, those who did had fun on the links at the Prescott Country Club. The morning flight teed off around 7:30 a.m. and was able to play quickly as the course wasn’t crowded. All players also knew their entry fees would be going to help local residents get to and from cancer treatments and medical appointments. Originally, the tourney was the Nevada County Cancer Association Golf Tournament, but the name was changed to honor McKenzie, an avid golfer and active member of the NCCA, who died from cancer.

During the afternoon, golfers enjoyed the sunny weather and occasional breeze while they played. All participants also had the opportunity to bid on a wide variety of items at the silent auction. NCCA members also provided lunch for the morning and afternoon flights.
