Hope Senior Citizens Center
HOPE- The Hope Senior Citizens Center is located in downtown Hope at 102 South Main Street across the street from Tailgaters. The center is open four days a week whereas other centers in the surrounding areas including Prescott are down to three days a week. The Hope Senior Center is a place for those who are 60 years of age or older to go to have social interaction with those with similar interests. The center offers activities for the seniors to do such as bingo, nutritional programs, group singings, along with providing them updates on medicare. Those present at the center today stated that they hope more will come and join them.
Hot meals are cooked daily by a newly hired cook, Pasha Welch. the ingredients that are used are all purchased from Sysco. They ask for a $3 donation for a meal. Meals can be ate at the senior center for those who want to come for social interactions. Those who are unable to drive a van driven by Bobbie “Sue” Madison, is available to pick up seniors and bring them to the center and will later drop them back off at their residence. They do ask for a $1 donation for riding the van. For those who are not able to leave their homes or able to cook meals for themselves can have meals delivered to them.
This center was previously run by Southwest Arkansas Development Council but is now being run by the Area Agency of Aging based out of Magnolia. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8am until 2:30pm and lunch is severed around 11:30.
