Cox arrested for burglary
HOPE – On August 18, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Deputy Landon Loe was dispatched to 7070 Highway 29 North in Prescott in reference to a Residential Burglary.
Upon arrival, Deputy Loe made contact with Steve Burke who stated he was mowing his yard at the house he and his wife have been remodeling when he realized something wasn’t right. Burke stated all the doors and windows to the residence were completely locked, including all the deadbolts, but the house had been completely ransacked and several items were missing from the house.
Burke stated a 50″ Element LED TV valued at $600, a 55″ Philips 4K UHD TV valued at $600, a Mossberg 12GA pump action shotgun with 30″ barrel and brown wooden stock valued at $300, and two high quality HDMI cables valued at $80 total were missing from the house.
After investigation was began Investigator Justin Crane received information as to a possible suspect and the location of some of the stolen property. Investigator crane and deputies, we able to gain enough information to arrest a Suspect.
Richard Dewayne Cox AKA Jr., 30, of Prescott, was taken into custody by HCSO deputies and transported to the Hempstead County Detention Center. Where he was booked for residential burglary, and theft of property. Cox also had an outstanding probation warrant he was also charged with that. Cox is awaiting a first appearance.
Upon further investigation investigators were able to determine where some of the stolen property had been taken. Deputies and Investigators were able to locate the shotgun, shotgun, television, DVD player and sound bar which was returned to Burke by deputies.
