Hope Health Expo
HOPE- The Hope Health Expo was hosted on Saturday, August 26 at Hempstead Hall by the HOPE Coalition. The Wadley Health Scan bus was present to run test on those who had preregistered, also outside was the Life Share bloodmobile for people to donate. The event consisted of three rooms designed to address different age levels, along with vendors in the foyer areas.
Local services like Paffford and Hope Fire Department were present at the event to give the community information on how to stay safe and what to do in an emergency. In the kids area student nurses were present to show kids how to create a healthy plate to get the nutrients that they need. While learning different health and safety facts the kids and parents got to enjoy a photo booth with fun props. The US Army Corps of Engineers were present showing different animal fur and also a live king snake. For those who like smoothies a smoothie bike was ready to ride and in the matter of minutes you could have a smoothie. Other activities that were a hit at the event were connect four and Jenga that were at the Health Care Express booth.
In the room to serve the adults, you could receive information on assisted living along with getting your blood drawn, and being tested for high cholesterol and high blood pressure. While learning what all Hope Haven Retirement Home has to offer you got to play bingo called by their Activity Director, Shelley Keith. Throughout the event the Hope High School drum line would perform under the supervision of band director Julie Gladden.
