Mrs. Florine (Walker) Taylor

Mrs. Florine (Walker) Taylor was born in Ozan, Arkansas on February 28, 1922 to George Walker and Rebecca Cannon Walker.  She was the youngest of ten children.
She joined St. Mark CME Church at an early age, she later joined St. Peter CME Church in Ozan.  Florine received her education at Walnut Grove and later Clow Training Center in Ozan, Arkansas, where she graduated in 1940.  She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Washington Elementary School, Lincoln High School cafeteria, Western Auto in Nashville; and provided child care in the community.
Florine departed her life on September 15, 2017 in Nashville with her children and grandchildren by her bedside.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Rebecca (Cannon) Walker; two sisters, Odessa (Walker) Doby and Gurleen Walker; seven brothers, Sannie, Rosevelt, H. Walker, Sr., Willie, C.D., Avada and Lear Walker; one grandson, Marvis Earl Taylor; one great grandson, Yaves White.
She was united in wedlock to R.C. Taylor, Sr. in 1943, to this union ten children were born.  She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children, Maple Swift (George), Leonard Taylor (Elsie) of Ozan, Carolyn Taylor (John) of Gary, Indiana, R.C. Taylor, Jr. (Marie), Lancie Taylor of Ozan, Stanley Taylor of Hope, Audrey Taylor, Sharon Craven, Vanessa Swift (Jerry), Gwendolyn Stewart (Lamarr) of Ozan; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends all of whom mourn her passing.
Visitation will be 12pm-5pm Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be 2:30 Saturday, September 23 at St. Luke CME Church.  Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery in Ozan.  Arrangements entrusted to Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
