Tong charged with murder

PRESCOTT – George Tong, 21, of Fulton, has been charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of Lucia Smith, 38, of Emmet.

According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office website, the call came in at 11:18 p.m. on Oct. 11, concerning a woman being shot in Emmet. When deputies arrived, they found Smith dead inside her home.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation unit was called in, with the NCSO securing the scene until investigators arrived. According to the NCSO, witnesses at the scene identified Tong as the shooter. The HSCO, Hope Police Department and Texarkana Arkansas Police Department searched for Tong, finding him in a Texarkana motel, where he was arrested.

Tong was taken back to the Nevada County Jail, where he was booked on charges of first degree murder.
