LITTLE ROCK –Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) Director Maria Markham has announced the reopening of the ArFuture Grant Program.

“Some students may have missed the deadline last summer for ArFuture,” Markham said. “Not all students begin college in August. And we want to give every student an opportunity to receive a college education regardless of when they start.”

Arkansas Future (ArFuture) was created through legislation in the 2017 general session. This program was created to promote higher education, increase the skills and education of Arkansas’ workforce and attract students into high-demand, high-wage occupations. The scholarship will cover tuition and fees for qualifying Associate and Certification programs at public higher educational institutions for eligible students.

Previously, the grant was open until June 15, for the August 2017 and January 2018 enrollment periods. This appreciation period is currently open and applications will be considered until Jan. 5, 2018.

The grant is open to every person who has graduated from an Arkansas high school, Arkansas home school or GED program, or anyone who has a high school diploma and has lived in Arkansas the last three years. Students must also enroll in a high demand or STEM program and not have already earned an associate degree. Applicants must also complete the free application for Federal Student Aid and apply on the ADHE’s YOUniversal scholarship portal.

Those who have already submitted an application for Fall 2018 will be contacted and will not be required to submit an additional application. Students who have already been awarded for the Fall 2017 semester do not have to reapply.
