Lana Pauline Thompson

 

LANALana Pauline Thompson Goad Munn was born on February 13, 1943 at Julia Chester Hospital in Hope, Arkansas and passed away on November 14, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas. She was the daughter of Joe Thomas Thompson and Pauline Rowe. Lana lived in Hope and Prescott for all but three years of her life. She LOVED Hope Arkansas and spent a great deal of her career promoting Hope and its interests.

Growing up in Hope, Lana was an active member of her school communities. At Brookwood Elementary, she was a member of the school’s first Safety Patrol. The picture of the young students was on the front page of the Hope Star. Lana was a member of the Jeanette Hunker Jr., Girls Auxiliary at the First Baptist Church. While attending Hope Junior High School she was a member of the Hope Junior Band and played Betsy Ross in the school Thanksgiving Pageant. Lana was busy in High School as well. She was a member of the Quill and Scroll Club, the Rifle club, the Music Makers, and was a twirler in the Hope Bobcat Band. She also managed to get a few traffic tickets for speeding and running stop signs! Though she tried to hide them they were published in the Hope Star, making it difficult to do so! Lana attended Henderson State in Arkadelphia after graduating from HHS. She was majoring in finance when she decided to return home to help her family care for her beloved Grand Mother, Mary Rowe. Lana married Jerry Goad in 1963 and Tom Munn in 1983.

When she returned home from Henderson, Lana decided to follow her interest. She went into banking and marketing. She worked at First National Bank and Citizens National Bank in Hope. While she lived in Texas she worked at Nassau Bay National Bank. Lana attended AIB Banking School and excelled in the environment. Lana worked tirelessly for the Hope Chamber of Commerce and anything Hope. She was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She belonged to the John Cain Chapter of Hope and the Samuel King Chapter in Edmond, OK. Lana was a descendant of over six proven American Revolutionary patriots. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Her health failed her in her later years but she never gave up. Lana survived breast cancer, heart attacks, strokes, and much more. She was a fighter to the end.

Lana is survived by her son, Joe Thomas Goad; Grandchildren, Hal Thomas Goad, Audreana Goad Rosenbaum & husband Patrick; Great Grandchild, Levi Sisco; her Nieces, Nancy Doyle, Suzanne Doyle, & Rosalind Doyle Triplett & husband Marvin; great nieces and nephews, Laura & Brent Hammond, Belinda & Allen Sizemore, Travis & Jessie Toepp, Jason & Katie Toepp; and many Thompson & Rowe cousins; Special Grandson Ryan Couch: Special in-laws, Claudette Doyle Wilson & husband Buddy, Special Niece Frances Lenox.

Lana is preceded in death by her Parents, her Sister Nelda Jo Thompson Doyle & Brother-in-law, Thomas Applewhite Doyle. And her very special pet, “Sweet Annie”.
