Ringo charged with possession
PRESCOTT – On Sunday, December 3, K9 Deputy Hendrix, while sitting stationary observed a black four-door vehicle pass by in which the passenger side headlight was not functioning properly.
Hendrix maintained site of the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop on said vehicle.
Upon making contact with the driver, Hendrix identified himself and the reason for the stop. Hendrix asked the driver to produce his driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of valid insurance. While the driver was producing his identification, Hendrix detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
At the time of detecting the odor, Hendrix radioed for Deputy Hughes to assist.
Upon Hughes arriving on scene, Hendrix advised the driver a search of the vehicle would be conducted based on the smell of marijuana detected inside of the vehicle. Before exiting the vehicle, the driver produced a bag of green leafy substance, and handed it to Hendrix.
The driver exited the vehicle, and moved to the rear as instructed. At that time, the driver was placed into handcuffs and advised he was being detained based on the marijuana, as well as having a suspended drivers license.
A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted which yielded no further contraband.
The driver Eddie Ringo, of Pine Bluff, was arrested for driving on a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.
