Arklatex Hog Round-Up

HOPE- The Arklatex Wild Hog Round-up started at today, January 4th and will be going on until Saturday January 6th. There were nine teams to register for the event, some being as far as Oklahoma.

The four person dog team hunting started hunting at midnight and will continue until Saturday at 3:00 where all teams will have to be inside the park for weigh in. All hogs will be dead and field dressed for weigh in. They are expecting around 40-50 harvest hogs from this event with some of the teams already having four and five hogs.

There will be kids activities such as a buddy coon and squirrel hunting, and pig chase happening on Friday, and a coon and squirrel treeing on Saturday. There will also be a wild hog cook off happening on Saturday.

Prizes will be given to the teams for different categories, such as biggest show, biggest hog, longest tusks, and for the five heaviest hogs. A jackpot prize will be given to the team with the biggest Barr.

Sponsors, such as Jan Morgan who is running Governor of Arkansas for 2018 will be present at the event along with vendors who will be set up inside the Fair Park Coliseum. The public is invited to attend the event. For more information contact Jeromy Sullivent at 870-484-1775.
